Brainspotting (BSP) is a relatively new type of therapy designed to help people access, process, and overcome trauma, negative emotions, and pain, including psychologically induced physical pain. It is however not limited to Trauma, but can be used to build resources. Sports enthusiasts and actors have used it to increase their performance. 


According to therapist and creator David Grand, the direction in which people look or gaze can affect the way they feel. During brainspotting, therapists help people position their eyes in ways that enable them to target sources of negative emotion. With the aid of a pointer, trained brainspotting therapists slowly guide the eyes of people in therapy across their field of vision to find appropriate “brainspots,” with a brainspot being an eye position that activates a traumatic memory or painful emotion. Practitioners of the procedure believe it allows therapists to access emotions on a deeper level and target the physical effects of trauma, or the areas to build confidence.

There is increasing evidence that trauma is “stored” in the body and that it can alter the way the brain works. Trauma can, for example, have an effect on emotionsmemory, and physical health. Brainspotting seems to activate the body’s innate ability to heal itself. It can be used for:


HeartMath - Add heart - to your life

HeartMath is a system which uses biofeedback to allow us to self-regulate and also access our optimal performance. You will learn to use your heart and heart rate variability to do this and shift your base-line.

While I integrate HeartMath as part of the therapeutic process I also offer specific HeartMath coaching sessions.  These are 4 - 6 sessions and we work through the HM coaching courses. These may be: Voyage to Heart Intelligence; Stress Resilient Programme; strategies for coherant performance. 

For me HeartMath forms part of the Personal Development arena. Now  that you have healed, we can shift to changing your baseline of operation. This process is a form of active meditation so that you can perform better in your life and shift in the moment when a difficulty shows up. it is also a great way to set your intention and energy for the day, with a HeartLock-in. Other tools you will learn are: Neutral (to help the amygdala), Quick Coherence, and Freeze Frame. You will be able to do a Heart Map as part of your brain storm. This is a practice that requires an app, and a device to read your Heart Rate variability and Coherence levels. Family/Systemic/Organisational/Relationship Constellations

Tradtionally, Family Constellation is a powerful method to help you recognise difficult entanglements,  in your family of origin, in your present family or relationship as well as in your business/organisation. Solution-oriented interventions bring understanding, which is followed by a deep relaxation that allows love to flow again between members of the family system/around the issue.

Systemic Family Therapy was first developed by the German therapist, Bert Hellinger. In this therapeutic approach, we consider the individual as part of a greater whole – a family system/a group – rather than as a separate entity. Ones individual behaviour, feelings and attitudes, have to be understood in the context of this larger group. As in any other system, unspoken laws operating  guide behaviour that we, as family members, are largely unaware of. Suffering usually arises in a family member when one or more members of the system unconsciously violate these archaic laws. They do this unknowingly, not out of rebelliousness as one might expect, but out of love – a ‘blind’ love.

A similar understanding is applied to the current issue/relationship/decision/organisation/business issues.

I use Constellation work in this way as well as using elements of it as issues, decisions, and blocks surface in therapy.

Enneagram and MBTI

I use the Enneagram and/or the MBTI as a personal development and therapeutic tool. The Enneagram offers insight into your motivations of behaviour (ENNEAGRAM) and Preferences (MBTI). Once we understand that, we can then expand and find ways to access aspects of our selves that will enable us to overcome the struggle that we are currently having.  I often use HeartMath, MBTI and the Enneagram as tools together to access our heart's intelligence and navigate the developmental areas of our personality type. I love combing the MBTI and the Enneagram with my work with individuals, couples and teams to really understand the richness in preferences and motivations, while also exploring choice in behaviour and development across life-span.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. Please note, I prefer using Brainspotting and BWRT, as I find them quicker and longer lasting.. I only use EMDR if my client insists.
