Individual Therapy in Johannesburg
Mental Well-being, Life Transitions and Personal Growth
You may be navigating a transition.
A relationship.
A new phase of life.
Or the awareness of the past impacting you now.
Or something has shifted — and it’s asking something different of you.
And internally, it can feel harder than it should.
Not always clear.
Not always settled.
Not quite how you want to be experiencing it.
You may understand what’s happening,
but you’re still feeling it, reacting to it, or stuck in it.
That gap between knowing and being able to shift it
is where therapy needs to go deeper.
Traditional talk therapy can bring awareness.
But lasting change happens when we work at the level where patterns were formed: your nervous system, emotional responses, and internal conditioning.
This is why clients often come to this work after trying other approaches.
My Clients
My clients are usually over 34, high functioning and navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, loss (loved ones, pregnancy, dreams, pets, jobs etc) relationship challenges, or life transitions who are ready for deeper meaningful change.
Your journey starts in session 1, we spend a little time getting to know each other, and we begin. The journey of getting to know each other is an ongoing one, but the work can begin almost immediately from session 2 if you are ready. I listen from session 1 with the awareness of what will bring you relief and growth based on what you bring.
Come into my online and in-person clinic if you are ready to heal, grow and thrive.
They tend to fall into one of three camps:
1. Those with something specific to work through — a trauma, a life event, a transition, a pattern in a response, relationship, loss or something at work.
Focused, purposeful, with a clear destination in mind.
2. Those ready for deeper, longer-term work — not just resolving something, but genuinely transforming how they move through life. Healing old layers, growing into who they want to be, and building a life that feels like theirs.
3. Are not new to pain and hurt, have learnt to be self-reliant, are "spiritual or woo" , may call themselves empaths for example, and they are wanting to experience something new in their relationships - with themselves, perhaps their kids, and in life itself. They are wanting to learn how to lean into inter-dependance, and joy and free themselves from the hurt and pain and unlock something new. They need the tools and support to do this, and are not afraid to go where they need to, or do the long term work.
The goal isn't just to cope — it's to move through your life with clarity, confidence, and ease — and to create the kind of impact, connection, joy, and fulfilment you actually want.
Clients often Describe this work as:
-
The most effective therapy they’ve experienced
-
A turning point after years of feeling stuck
-
A deeper approach than traditional therapy
-
Work that creates real, lasting change — not just insight
-
Like high performance coaching rather than traditional therapy
-
You need to be ready, as you will be invited to dive deep, and you will make changes
Most of the things that happen in life, and the patterns that hold people back aren't conscious choices.
They're how your brain and nervous system learned to respond — under stress, in relationships, or when navigating uncertainty. Often formed long before you had words for them.
This is often why people come to therapy after trying to think their way through something that hasn’t shifted.
The work we do together goes to the level where those responses were formed — so the change you experience is felt, not just understood. In how you react. In how you relate. In how you move through your life day to day.
You should know, my clients describe me as "no-nonsense" and who to go to when you are ready to make the changes you desire.
When to Consider Individual Therapy
You may benefit from therapy if:
-
you feel stuck, even though you understand what’s happening
-
you find yourself repeating the same patterns
-
you don’t feel like yourself
-
you are navigating a life transition that feels difficult to settle into
-
you are functioning, but things feel harder internally than they should
You don’t need to wait until things feel overwhelming.
Sometimes, therapy is most helpful when something isn’t quite working out — and you want to understand why, and change your responses.

Individual Therapy in Johannesburg and Online:
Areas I can Support you in
What We Work With
Some clients come with something specific — a trauma, a life event, anxiety, burnout, a relationship that keeps breaking down.
Others come knowing they want something deeper: to heal old layers, grow into who they want to be, and stop being held back by patterns they've outgrown.
Both are valid. Both are welcome.
Across both, the work may include:
Emotional wellbeing — anxiety, stress, depression, fears, burnout
Patterns, healing & trauma — past experiences, repeating patterns, emotional reactivity, self-doubt
Life transitions & growth — grief, change, feeling stuck, navigating a new chapter
Relationships — family dynamics, communication, divorce, boundaries, relational ease
Deeper work — identity, confidence, clarity, removing internal barriers to what you actually want
Therapy provides a structured and supportive space for healing, emotional well-being, and personal growth — while also working to rewire automatic responses at a deeper level.
The Focus of Our Work
Our work together is tailored to what you need, and may include:
regulating emotional responses
changing reactive tendencies
processing the emotional impact of past experiences
strengthening clarity, confidence, and self-trust
improving communication and relational ease
integrating change into everyday life
🔍 My therapy approach: Brain-Based, Heart-Science, Trauma-Informed, Relational Intelligence
My work integrates traditional psychotherapy with specialised brain-based approaches that supportchange at the level of how the brain and nervous system respond.
Rather than focusing only on insight, this allows us to work directly with how experiences are processed and how emotional responses are maintained.
Depending on your needs, therapy may incorporate approaches such as:
-
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT)
-
Brainspotting
-
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
-
Constellation work
-
Nervous system regulation approaches
-
Hypnotherapy and Visualisation
The focus is on creating meaningful change in how you experience yourself, your relationships, and your life.

What Others Say:
Justine
Working with Farhana has been the most effective work I have done in over 10 YEARS. I feel I have healed some profound personal issues and deep blocks. The techniques she uses are really geared toward personal change which then catapults you forward, both your personal and business life. I would not be where I am today without the work we have done together in a year. I am deeply grateful for the space she provides and what we created together. I feel grounded and free in my life, and clear about my business. We worked on family issues; relationship break-up and being ready; money; masculine/feminine and business expansion.
Client - working through burnout
Thank you again for the work we have done this year. I deeply feel that it has made a difference, and I am so grateful for the changes that I am starting to experience in my life. I've needed this for a long time and so grateful for the ways you have supported me and shifted things for me.
